Peruvian Association for Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology, Peru
Born in Trujillo in the northern part of Peru, Dr. Garcia-Mantilla studied medicine at San Marcos Public University in Lima, the most antique of the Americas. He graduated from San Fernando Medicine Faculty. After graduating as a Physician he spent some years in the Peruvian Andes improving the health of the less privileged people. Later, he studied Pulmonary Medicine at the Postgraduate School of San Fernando Medicine Faculty. He went to Edgardo Rebagliati Hospital, the biggest medical center in Peru where he was recognized as an outstanding pulmonology resident.
Since 2000, Dr. Garcia-Mantilla has been working at Guillermo Almenara Hospital in Lima – Peru, a recognized teaching and medical center where he is the Head of the Bronchoscopy Unit. Because of his special interest in education and bronchoscopy, he organized in May 2011, the first “Introduction to Flexible Bronchoscopy Course” in Peru with the support of “Bronchoscopy International” and “The Peruvian Pulmonology Society”. It was the first simulation-based training program developed for Pulmonologists in Peru and has continued throughout the following years. The program curriculum was designed and developed as part of the “Bronchoscopy Education Project” and endorsed by World Association for Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology (WABIP).
In 2013, Dr. Garcia-Mantilla with a group of pulmonologists in Lima, created and founded the Peruvian Association for Bronchology (APBNI), a working group to promote the development of Interventional Pulmonology in Peru. As a promoter and advocate of the democratization of medical knowledge, now he continues working in order to improve the way of learning bronchoscopy in Peru and South America.
Dr. Garcia-Mantilla is a University Coordinator of Pulmonology Residents. He is the current President of the Peruvian Association for Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology (APBNI) and the current Peruvian Regent of the WABIP. He is also member of the "International Association for Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC), the “Peruvian Pulmonology Society”, the ALAT (Latin American Association for Thorax), the WABIP, the "South American Association for Respiratory Endoscopy", The European Respiratory Society (ERS), the Spanish Association for Respiratory Endoscopy (AEER) , and Fellow of American College of Chest Physicians (CHEST). 
Now, he is leading the Interventional Pulmonology field in Peru with his outstanding work at the San Borja Private Clinic, one of the most important in the Private Network of Healthcare in Peru.
