Katia is a Senior Research Officer at QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute. She is an expert on the interpretation of next generation sequencing data for cancer research. She was a member of the Australian International Cancer Genome Consortium (ICGC) and is a member of the Australian Genomics Heath Alliance. Her research uses genomics to identify mechanisms driving cancer development and identify potentially actionable targets. She also uses tumour specific mutations to identify mutational signatures detected in the cancer cells genome that might identify mechanisms linked to tumour development and treatment options.
