Sebastian Fernandez-Bussy, M.D.
Sebastian Fernandez-Bussy, M.D., is a senior associate consultant in the Division of Pulmonary Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, where he serves as Director of Interventional Pulmonology.
Dr. Fernandez-Bussy earned his M.D. at Salvador University School of Medicine in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He completed a residency in the Internal Medicine Society of Buenos Aires followed by a fellowship in critical care medicine at the Universidad del Salvador in Buenos Aires. He continued his training through a fellowship in the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine at the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville, FL where he also completed his Interventional Pulmonology training.
Dr. Fernandez-Bussy is specialized in minimally invasive diagnostic and therapeutic thoracic procedures. As an expert in this field, he is regularly invited to participate in national and international meetings throughout the world to teach advanced diagnostic and therapeutic bronchoscopy, endobronchial ultrasound, and pleural procedures.
Dr. Fernandez-Bussy is also participating in several research projects, including a phase 1 trial on a new device for bronchoscopic treatment for chronic bronchitis. He has authored numerous journal articles, abstracts and other written publications. He also serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology, PLEURA Journal and Respiration, and he holds reviewer responsibilities for prominent scientific publications.
